// EVO NEWS: (FREE) Presentations by Pro Climber Paul Robinson + “Unprofessional Climber” Mo Beck, FREE Movie Night, + More

It’s March Madness at EVO, which has zero to do with basketball and everything to do with getting you mentally fit for a summer of sending. How? See clinics + presentations below.

PAUL ROBINSON PRESENTS: PROJECTING @ YO’ LIMIT
Tues, March 5 // 7p – 8p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
Paul Robinson has sent 19 V15 boulders, but he didn’t just wake up one day and magically start flashing every “8C” he touched. Instead, it sometimes took him years of working the same boulder to send. Most of us would have given up after just looking at the non-existent holds, but years of projecting climbs at his limit has taught Paul a few things for dealing with failure and pushing past the mental side of repeated punting. What “things”? We’ll let him tell you.

MO BECK SLIDESHOW PRESENTATION
Thurs, March 14 // 8p – 9p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
What’s it like to climb with a negative 13 ape index? Send 5.12 with one hand? Be 78% motivated by cupcakes? Hear Mo’s stories of creating her own climbing style and the work she’s done to build the local and national paraclimbing communities, mixed in with a few amputee jokes and a sneak peak at her upcoming film “Adaptive,” covering her 2018 expedition to the Cirque of the Unclimbables. She’ll also likely tell you where to find the best cupcakes on the Front Range.

CLIMB WITH THE SETTERS
Wed, March 20 // 7p – 8:30p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
Ever look at a climb and have zero idea what to do? Or find beta that you think might be vastly different from the “intended beta”? The EVO setting crew is here to chat about all things beta and boulders, though we’ve heard they might be convinced to hop on a rope too if you ask nicely. Climbers of all ages and ability levels welcome.

MADALEINE SORKIN MENTAL MADNESS CLINIC
Tues, March 26 // 6:30p – 8:30p // $50 members, $75 not-yet-members
We spend hours in the gym training to get stronger in hopes of sending harder climbs, but how much of that training is mental? Improve your mental fitness and redpoint/onsight skills to perform at your edge of comfort (think: above your last piece or clip) in this clinic taught by big wall free climber and AMGA Rock Guide Madaleine Sorkin.
Clinic designed for climbers comfortable leading 5.9 or above indoors.

JEAN MOVIE SCREENING + Q+A
Thurs, March 28 // 7p – 8:30p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
Join us to watch JEAN, a short film about local Boulder climber and pioneer for women in climbing, Jean Dempsey, whose life was changed forever by a rockfall accident in Yosemite 37 years ago. The film will be followed by a Q+A with Jean and preceded with information about Love Your Brain, a non profit that provides yoga for those affected by traumatic brain injury.
