PRESENTATION: HOW TO TRAIN LIKE AN OLYMPIAN
Wed, April 3 // 6p – 7p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
Join Athletic Trainer ‘JT the AT’ for a Burdenko-style HIIT class at 7p
While the chances of one of us competing in the 2020 Olympics are pretty darn slim, that doesn’t mean we can’t learn from longtime Russian Olympic coach Igor Burdenko. Long story short: Igor came to the US in the 90’s (over 40 years into his incredibly successful coaching career) and shared his training secrets. Now EVO athletic trainer and fitness instructor ‘JT the AT’ is here to give us the inside scoop on how to adapt the holistic “Burdenko method” to climbing training.
SCARPA + ARBONNE DEMO NIGHT
Tues, April 9 // 5p – 8p // FREE w/ membership or day pass
Drinks and shoes. It’s kinda like drinks and apps, but better, because shoes! Enjoy some fizzy pre-, during and post-workout drink supplements from Arbonne while you try out as many Scarpa shoes as your toes can handle in one evening.
ORTHOMOTION SHOULDER (P)REHAB CLINIC
Tues, April 23 // 6:30p – 7:30p // FREE
Do your shoulders ever feel clicky? Sore? Stiff? Painful? Have you written these tweaks off as something that simply happens when you climb a lot? Did you know that you don’t need to be in pain, even if you’re training hard? Okay, enough with the questions. Orthomotion has the answers to help you understand why you’re feeling pain (or clicking or general funkiness) and how to (p)rehab your shoulders to get rid of it.
MEET OUR PERSONAL TRAINERS
Brendan began both climbing and personal training in 2010 and has worked to combine his passions ever since. While you’ve probably seen him in the gym working with Paul Robinson, he specializes in teaching off the wall strength and conditioning to folks with full-time jobs, including those recovering from injuries.
‘JT the AT’
JT has been climbing since age 4 but has always been a multi-sport athlete (soccer, yoga, trail running, skiing–he kinda does it all). As an athletic trainer (AT), he utilizes a holistic training approach to help youth athletes develop coordination and prevent injuries and older athletes regain lost flexibility, balance and speed.
Gina has been climbing for 30 years and has worked as a certified Personal Trainer for 29. She specializes in helping competitive and non-competitive climbers regain mobility and strength post-injury/surgery through sport-specific training and rehab.
